Knutsen NYK takes delivery of LNG dual fuel tanker

A dual-fuel LNG shuttle tanker ordered by Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers (KNOT), an affiliate of Japanese shipping company NYK, was delivered at Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering on August 2. The vessel has been named Frida Knutsen.

The shuttle tanker will be chartered to Eni Trade & Biofuels, a subsidiary of Italian energy company Eni, and will be engaged in oil transportation in the North Sea and the Barents Sea, NYK said on August 3.

The vessel will be KNOT's first dual-fuel shuttle tanker that can use not only heavy fuel oil but also LNG. It is equipped with a VOC recovery system and an energy storage system, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions, NYK said. The tanker has a length of 277.54 m and a breadth of 46 m.
