KMG Boosts Gas Output by 4% in H1

Kazakhstan's state oil company KazMunayGas (KMG) increased dry and associated gas production by 3.9% year on year to 4.32bn m3 in the first half of the year, it said on August 3.

Oil production fell 3.1% to 11.35mn metric tons, while refining throughput fell 17.1% to 8.29mn mt. Oil output at the Tengiz oilfield – Kazakhstan's largest – fell 4.7%, while production at the Kashagan and Karachaganak fields was up 42.5% and 5.2% respectively. Kashagan was launched in late 2016 and has been ramping up supply since then.

Kazakh oil production was affected by the country's commitments under the Opec+ deal on supply cuts, which came into force in May.
