Kinetiko spuds third well on SA CBM project

Australia-based Kinetiko Energy has spudded the third of three wells on the Korhaan coalbed methane (CBM) project in South Africa, it said on November 25.

The third well, Korhaan-3, is estimated to reach a depth of 400 m-450 m to test the gassy sandstones and CBM horizons from the known coal beds that were intersected and observed to be gassy from adjacent flow tested gas wells KA-03PT2 and KA-03PTR.

The spudding of Korhaan 3 is the last of the three well Korhaan project programmed to be completed this year. The three-well drilling programme has been successfully undertaken within 400 m of Kinetiko's proposed gas collection terminal at Amersfoort where infrastructure is being established to enable the completion of offtake negotiations.
