Kimberley Mineral Sands to buy LNG from Woodside JV

Kimberley Mineral Sands has signed a five-year deal to purchase LNG from a joint of Woodside and EDLLNG Fuel to Power, Kimberley’s 50% owner, Sheffield Resources, said on September 26.

Woodside Energy LNG Fuels & Power will supply and deliver approximately 650 terajoules/year of LNG to the Thunderbird mineral sands project in northern Western Australia. The LNG will be supplied from Woodside’s Pluto LNG truck loading facility near Karratha. The joint venture will deploy a purpose-built road tanker fleet to deliver the LNG to the Thunderbird project.

“The agreement enables flexible, long-term gas supply to Kimberley Mineral Sands for power generation,” Sheffield said.

The agreement is subject to a number of customary conditions, including Kimberly making a final investment on the Thunderbird project. The companies have an option to extend the agreement for another five years.

Woodside Energy LNG Fuels & Power last year signed a 10-year LNG supply agreement with another Western Australian minerals company, Strandline Resources.
