KCA Deutag Extends Cnooc Scott Platform Contract

Aberdeen-headquartered drilling and engineering contractor KCA Deutag has been awarded an extension to its existing contract with Cnooc for its Scott platform in the UK North Sea, it said April 24.

The contract extension, which is for the provision of drilling operations and maintenance services, came into effect March 1, 2019.  It has an initial term of four years plus a two-year extension option, KCA Deutag said. 

The Scott platform, located about 188 km northeast of Aberdeen, came on stream in 1993 and produces crude oil and natural gas from the Scott, Telford and Rochelle fields.

Cnooc Petroleum Europe, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cnooc, is the operating partner of Scott, Telford and Rochelle (41.89%, 80.40% and 79.29% respectively), with Dana Petroleum E&P (20.64% Scott), Edison E&P UK (10.47% Scott and 15.65% Telford), Total Oil UK (5.16% Scott and 2.36% Telford) and MOL Operations UK (21.84% Scott, 1.59% Telford and 20.71% Rochelle).
