KCA Deutag Builds in Poland

KCA Deutag has announced it had been awarded a contract in Northern Poland by Gora Energy Resources, a wholly owned subsidiary of San Leon Energy.

The Gora Energy resources primary contract is for the drilling of one exploration well and it offers the operator the option to extend the services for further wells.

The announcement by one of the world’s largest international drilling contractors, follows KCA Deutag’s recent entry into the Polish market through a contract with Marathon Petroleum Poland. (HERE)

KCA DEUTAG’s chief executive Holger Temmen commented: “This is very exciting coming so soon after our entry into the emerging Polish market and the European shale gas sector with the Marathon contract.

“The potential of unconventional oil and gas reserves in Europe is truly significant and we are particularly well placed to address clients’ drilling requirements, both in terms of the quality of our rig assets and our in-depth understanding of the operational and legislative environment in our home European market.  We anticipate further new rig investments to address the shale gas market, as projects move from exploration to appraisal and full development.
