Kazakhstan Aims to triple Gas Output by 2030

Kazakhstan aims to produce 110 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas by 2030 and be counted among major gas supplier in the world. The republic currently produces around 40 bcm of gas annually.

“Kazakhstan is not a global player in mining and production of gas, but due to the fact that gradually liquid hydrocarbon production will decrease, we will have to retrieve gas that is currently located in seams,” Kazakh Deputy Oil and Gas Minister Bolat Akchulakov said during the Astana Economic Forum, RIA Novosti reported.

Akchulakov said the oil-rich republic would boost gas output from secondary production of currently operating oil and gas fields.

“We assume that the amount of 109-110 billion cubic meters will be achieved through secondary extraction,” said Akchulakov.
