Kawasaki Launches Japan's 1st LNG Bunker Vessel

Central LNG Shipping Japan Corporation (CLS) will receive Japan’s first LNG bunkering vessel from Kawasaki Heavy Industries, K-line said on May 13. The vessel was launched at the Sakaide Works of Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

CLS is a joint venture comprising shipping companies K-Line and NYK Line, utility Chubu Electric Power, and trading company Toyota Tsusho Corporation.

The vessel will be officially delivered in September this year. It will be based at Jera's Kawagoe gas-fired power station in Mie prefecture and start ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operations.
