JX Nippon Starts Gas Production from Malaysian Field

Japanese JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation commenced commercial gas production from Layang field in Block SK10 offshore Malaysia May 28, it said June 15. 

The company has a 75% interest in Block SK10.

Layang field is located approximately 7 kilometres east of the producing Helang gas field in Block SK10. Natural gas produced from Layang field, together with gas from Helang field, will be supplied through subsea pipelines to the MLNG’s liquefaction plant in Bintulu, Sarawak.

The natural gas will be sold as LNG after liquefaction to its customers including buyers in Japan, JX Nippon said.

The initial production of natural gas and condensate from Layang field is estimated about 12,000 boe/d.
