Jordan port invites interest in LNG terminal upgrades

Aqaba Development has invited expressions of interest on January 5 for the charter of an LNG floating storage unit, as part of planned upgrades at the Aqaba LNG terminal in Jordan.

Aqaba Development said it was looking to construct a new onshore regasification unit at the port and lease a floating storage unit, with or without adding an onshore LNG tank. The position of the complex will be decided following studies.

The Aqaba LNG terminal was brought online by Aqaba Development in 2015. Its current import capacity is 3.8mn metric tons/year. Aqaba Development said the extra facilities will provide additional security of supply for Jordan's natural gas network.
