Jordan Re-Exports LNG to Egypt

Jordan has re-exported 560,000 m³ of LNG (about 340mn m³ of pipeline gas) to Egypt in the last four months. Meanwhile, BW Singapore, BW LNG's first FSRU that is operating in Egypt, has reached a new milestone of 100 ship-to-ship (STS) transfers.

According to the Jordan’s National Electric Power Company, Jordan has supplied Egypt with LNG from a barge off the coast of Aqaba, AlGadh reported August 1. The supplies are under an agreement between the two countries, where Jordan will export 140,000 m³ of LNG each month for 10 months. The deal expires in December 2017. (NB: the newsagency quoted the units in cubic feet of LNG which NGW has changed to m³ throughout).

In a separate development, BW Singapore, BW LNG's first FSRU that is operating in Egypt, has reached a new milestone of 100 ship-to-ship (STS) transfers, the company said August 2 on a social media page. The 100th STS transfer was completed on July 22, 2017.

BW was awarded a 5-year contract to provide LNG regasification and storage services to the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company in 2015. BW’s newbuild 170,212 m³ LNG FSRU, BW Singapore, is presently permanently moored alongside a jetty in the Port of Ain Sokhna, Egypt.
