JKX Acquires Production Permit in Ukraine

London-listed JKX Oil & Gas has obtained a 20-year oil and gas production permit for the Zaplavska field in central Ukraine, it said on July 21.

JKX secured the permit through its subsidiary Poltava Petroleum Co (PPC). It replaces an exploration permit for Zaplavska that was valid until 2019. To date, the company has shot 2D and 3D seismic surveys at the 173-km2 area and has drilled five exploration wells.

JKX wants to carry out a workover at Zaplavska by the end of 2020.

Zaplavska is one of six fields owned by JKX in Ukraine's Poltava region. The company already has production permits in place for all of the others. Collectively they flowed 690,000 m3/day of gas and 1,100 barrels of oil equivalent/d of liquids in the first half, down 5% and up 20% year on year respectively.
