Jera Signs LNG Charter Deals with GasLog, Angelicoussis

Japan’s Jera has concluded time charter agreements for two LNG vessels with ship owning companies under GasLog and Angelicoussis Group, respectively, it said March 29.

Both vessels are currently under construction at shipyards in South Korea. The charter period for each vessel is 12 years, starting from around 2020, and the vessels will be utilised principally for transportation of LNG produced from the Freeport LNG project in Texas, in which Jera participates.

GasLog is scheduled to take delivery of the vessel, a 180,000m3 Mark III Flex Plus design with low pressure two stroke propulsion, from Samsung Heavy Industries in April 2020.

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering is constructing the vessel that has been chartered from Angelicoussis Group. The vessel has a capacity of 173,400m3, Jera said.

Jera, world’s biggest LNG buyer, said it plans to increase its LNG fleet to 25 vessels by 2025 in association with an increased ratio of FOB contracts. “Going forward, Jera is aiming to develop and optimise its fuel transportation businesses to achieve stable, competitive and flexible fuel portfolio,” it said.
