Jera Inks Time Charter for LNG Vessel
Japan’s Jera, through its subsidiary LNG Marine Transport, has entered into a time charter party for one LNG vessel with Maran Gas Maritime, an affiliated of the Angelicoussis Group, Jera said December 18.
Construction of the vessel will begin in 2020 at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering shipyard in Korea, Jera said. The charter period is about 12 years starting between October and December 2021, and the vessel will be utilised mainly for transportation of LNG from projects in Asia and Oceania. The vessel will have the capacity to transport up to 174,000 m3 of LNG.
Jera said it plans to increase its LNG fleet to 25 vessels by 2025 as its ratio of FOB contracts grows. “Going forward, Jera will continue to actively develop and optimise its fuel transportation businesses to achieve a stable, competitive, and flexible fuel portfolio,” it said.
