JAPEX Successfully Produces Oil, Gas in Hokkaido

Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., (JAPEX) has said that it was successfully producing 60,000 cubic m of natural gas and 380 barrels of crude oil per day after a recent production test from exploration well in the Akeno structure to the west of the Yufutsu oil and gas field in Hokkaido.

Production test was conducted along the sedimentary layer at a depth of between 4,707 m and 5,265 m from January 25, 2012. The test newly confirmed the existence of natural gas and crude oil within the Akeno structure.
