Japan's NYK to work on ammonia ready LNG-fuelled vessels

Japanese shipping company NYK Line, MTI Co., and Finland’s Elomatic have launched the development of a concept design for ammonia-ready LNG-fuelled vessels, NYK said on September 9.

NYK and Elomatic will work on the design between September 2021 and January 2022 to identify and explore challenges to the actual design and construction of ammonia-fuel ready LNG-fuelled vessels. The results of the development will be released in a video with accompanying 3D models in January 2022 at the time of the project’s completion, NYK said.
