Japan's NYK orders two LNG-fuelled coal carriers

Japanese shipping company NYK has contracted Oshima Shipbuilding Co. for the construction of two new LNG-fuelled coal carriers, it said on November 2. Both ships are scheduled to be completed in 2025.

“This vessel construction order is for the development of the dry bulk fleet toward achieving net zero emissions by 2050, which is the long-term goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the NYK Group's ocean shipping business,” the company said.
