Japan's November LNG Imports Drop 15% on Year

Japan’s LNG imports in November saw a sharp 15% year on year drop to 6.41mn metric tons, according to data released by country’s finance ministry December 27.

Australia, Malaysia and Qatar were the three main suppliers. Imports from Australia were 2.23mn mt, down almost 10% on year while imports from Malaysia stood at 1.16mn mt, again down almost 10%.

While Japan saw a drop in LNG imports, other big consumers in Asia, China and India, saw sharp rise in LNG imports last month.

China imported a little over 4mn mt of LNG in November, up 53% on year. India’s LNG imports registered a sharp 27.8% year on year growth in the month of November.
