Japan's MOL inks LNGC charter deal with CNOOC

Japanese shipping firm MOL has signed a long-term charter agreement for six newbuild 174,000 m3 LNG carriers with China’s CNOOC, it said on January 12.

The vessels will be built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China, and are scheduled to be completed between 2024 and 2026. They will be mainly engaged in LNG transportation to China under the LNG long-term contracts held by CNOOC Group.

Last month, CNOOC Gas & Power, a unit of state-run CNOOC, signed an LNG sales and purchase agreement with US-based Venture Global LNG.
