Japan’s LNG imports rise 17% in April

Japanese LNG imports in April came in at 5.28mn tonnes, up 16.7% compared with the same period last year, according to provisional data released today by Japan's finance ministry on May 22.

Despite this year/year growth, the imports represented a slight decline of nearly 5% month/month. The cost of LNG imports in April amounted to 468.92bn yen ($3bn), reflecting a 12.5% increase compared with the previous year.
