Japan's K Line to Work on Carbon Neutrality

Japanese shipping company K Line will establish at the start of next month a new department to focus on businesses and projects for carbon neutrality including renewable energy, it said on March 10.

The company said that the requirement for de-carbonisation is rapidly growing in the world. This has accelerated demand for renewable energy projects including offshore wind, carbon dioxide capture, utilisation and storage projects, energy transition projects (LNG value chain related) and carbon emission trading.

“For the purpose of proactively responding such needs, K Line will establish Carbon Neutral Promotion Group and facilitate business development for net-zero CO2 emission along with related parties and companies of K Line group,” it said.

K Line is one of Japan's leading shipping companies and owns a fleet that includes dry cargo ships, container ships, LNG carriers, Ro-Ro ships, tankers, and container terminals.
