Japan's Jera decommissions four gas-fired units

Jera has decommissioned four gas-fired units at its Anegasaki thermal power station in the Chiba prefecture, the company said on December 7.

The Japanese power generator will move forward with the construction of three new units at the same station. The four units that have been shut down were built between December 1967 and September 1972.

Two other units at the station, Unit 5 and Unit 6, have been suspended since April 2021, Jera said. Unit 5 is scheduled to be restored in January 2022.

The three new units that Jera is building are expected to be ready by 2023.
