Japan's Iwatani, UK's ITM Form Hydrogen Pact

UK hydrogen systems developer ITM Power has agreed to work with the US arm of Japanese industrial gases supplier Iwatani on deploying multi-megawatt electrolyser-based hydrogen energy systems in North America.

ITM said in a November 19 statement it had signed a collaboration agreement with Iwatani Corp of American to provide its proton exchange membrane electrolysers alongside Iwatani’s gas handling and deployment solutions. The pair will focus in particular on the Californian hydrogen refuelling market and the large-scale production of liquid and gaseous renewable hydrogen for domestic and export markets.

"Iwatani is a recognised leader in the hydrogen industry, and we are delighted to be collaborating with the company in North America,” ITM CEO Graham Cooley said. “Transport refuelling is just the tip of the iceberg for demand for hydrogen from renewable sources and this partnership will be well positioned to participate in this exciting and rapidly growing industry.”
