Japanese LNG Imports in Sept Up 1%

Japan’s LNG imports in September were 6.5mn metric tons, up 1% yr/yr, according to the provisional data released by the country’s finance ministry on October 19.

The shipments were sharply up on August when the country imported 5.84mt of LNG. Japan’s cumulative imports during April-September period were 33.4mn mt, down 6.5% yr/yr, the data showed.

Japan is the world's biggest LNG importer. In the 12 months ending March 31 2020, the country imported 76.5mn mt of LNG, down 5% yr/yr.
