Japanese LNG imports down 16% in Jan

Japanese LNG imports in January came in at 6.78mn metric tons, down 15.8% year/year, according to the data published by the country’s finance ministry on February 17. The imports were down 3.6% month/month.

Japan’s shipments last month cost 556bn yen ($4.83bn), up 52% yr/yr. In 2021, Japanese imports were 74.31mn mt, down about 0.2% yr/yr.
