Jade Gas to start six well programme in Mongolia

Sydney-listed Jade Gas will start a six-well drilling programme at its flagship TT coalbed methane project in the South Gobi basin in Mongolia, it said on November 2. This builds on the eight well programme that Jade completed in 2019 with joint-venture partner Erdenes Methane.

The work programme was approved by the Mongolian regulator, MRPAM, earlier in the year, and is designed to provide additional data on the gas content and compositional information in high potential seams to validate and augment information obtained during the 2019 campaign.

Jade Gas, with its technical partners in Australia, has shipped various equipment to Mongolia, including desorption equipment for the mobile lab, downhole logging tools, and drill stem testing equipment. A programmed series of permeability tests will also be carried out, and up to four wells are to be cased for subsequent completion later in 2022 to obtain longer-term production information, the company said.
