Jacobs Gets Khazzan Phase 2 Contract

Dallas-based Jacobs Engineering Group has been selected by BP to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the second phase of the Khazzan tight gas project in Oman, it said January 10.

Under the three-year contract, Jacobs will continue to deliver EPCM services in support of the project, including the ongoing expansion of the gas gathering system, wellsite facilities and export pipelines. It delivered EPCM services for the process and infrastructure work during the first phase of Khazzan, which started producing September 2017 ahead of schedule and was inaugurated in November. Khazzan is in Oman onshore block 61, and operated by BP with a 60% interest; state Oman Oil Company holds 40%.

In addition to supplying gas to the domestic market, Khazzan gas is expected to help Oman LNG’s gas liquefaction plant at Qalhat to operate at its optimum capacity of 10.4mn metric tons/yr in 2018 for the first time in more than a decade.
