Italy Considers Eni Stake Sale

Italy is likely to consider the sale of its 4.3% stake in oil and gas major Eni, as part of a broader privatisation plan that would include companies and other assets like real estate.

"We have said, and Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta also said, that we intend to announce by the end of the year a privatisation plan that will include real estate assets and also stakes in companies, which are still numerous despite past privatisations," Economy Minister Fabrizio Saccomanni said in an interview to the Saturday night talk show Che Tempo Che Fa

According to Reuters, the stake in Eni is worth 2.8 billion euros.

Il Fatto Quotidiano wrote that the Italian Government is intentioned to sell its stakes in Eni and Terna, but not its shares in Enel. According to the daily newspaper, the sale could be finalized by the end of the year.
