Italy Says South Stream, ITGI and Nabucco are Incompatible

Italy’s Paolo Romani says the EU needs to set priorities with respect to the South Stream, Italy-Turkey-Greece Interconnector and Nabucco gas pipelines.

The Italian development minister’s thoughts were delivered during meetings with French energy counterpart Eric Besson.

According to Romani “not all these pipelines are compatible with each other. I feel Europe will, sooner or later, have to tackle the issue from an industrial standpoint and choose which ground to stand on with respect to supplies.

The Commission’s strategy and that of (EU Energy) Commissioner (Guenther) Oettinger lack clarity” in that respect.
