Hydrogen Council, IRENA form H2 pact

The Hydrogen Council has formed a partnership with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to scale up green hydrogen development, the pair announced on September 8.

The council, a CEO-led initiative that aims to establish a hydrogen economy, will share knowledge, best practices and data with IRENA, including on electrolyser volumes and costs, policy frameworks, market design, certification systems and technical and safety standards.

"We are united by a shared vision for hydrogen as the enabler for faster and greater integration of renewable capacity, as well as greater cost-efficiency and optimisation at energy system level," the Hydrogen Council's director Daryl Wilson commented.

"Green hydrogen is a critical pillar for decarbonising energy systems," IRENA's director general, Francesco La Camera, added. "With today's agreement we will significantly increase knowledge exchange and international cooperation and coordinated action in this space."
