Iran's Persian Gulf Star Gas Condensate Refinery to Come Online Early 2017

Persian Gulf Star gas condensate refinery in Southern Iran with overall daily capacity of 360,000 barrels will fully come on stream early 2017, news agency Shana reported last week.

First phase of the refinery is expected to become operational by May. The second phase of the project will come online by September 2016 while the third phase will become operational by early 2017. The three phases combined will resulting in the production of 36 million liters of gasoline a day (ml/day).

With completion of the first phase Iran will be self-sufficient in gasoline production. Iran currently imports 5 ml/day of gasoline to meet its growing demand. The startup of Persian Gulf Star Refinery would let Iran even export 3 to 4 ml/d of gasoline.

The Persian Gulf Star refinery is the most important refining project in Iran, meant to process the condensate from South Pars in Asaluyeh.
