Iran's Gas Pipeline to Europe Half Complete

Construction on the third section of sixth Iran’s gas trunk line to Europe has progressed by 48 per cent, managing director of Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company (IGEDC) said.

IGEDC’s managing director, Alireza Gharibi, told Shana that this section’s length stands at 620 kilometres covering the distance between Dehgolan and Bazargan in West Azerbaijan province near the border with Turkey.

The project is expected to need 970 million euro investment, which will be provided by a foreign company and few domestic banks.

The 1,300 kilometre gas trunk line, when complete will increase Iran’s gas transfer capacity by one hundred million cubic meters per day. The pipeline also will be able to export 60 to 70 million cubic meters of gas per day to Turkey and other European counties.
