Iran's AMAK Project Saves 12 bcm of Flare Gas

Iran's AMAK project has saved burning of 12 billion cubic meters of flare gas since 2005.

The project’s first phase, which became operational a decade ago to prevent the flaring of associated gases, is the largest environmental project of the country's oil and gas sectors. Associated sour gases oil fields of Ahwaz 1,2 & 3, Marun3, Kupal, Mansuri and Ab-Teymur are gathered.

Morteza Mir-Nasiri, director, National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) told Shana on Wednesday that the second phase will come on stream soon.

The project currently consists of engineering, procurement construction and commissioning of seven gas compression stations, a gas treatment plant, 280 Km of gas pipe line and about 100 Km of power transmission lines, in Ahwaz area south west of Iran.
