Iran Ready to Transit Turkmen Gas to Persian Gulf States

Iran is ready to transit natural gas from Turkmenistan to the Persian Gulf Arab states, the managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company, Hamidreza Araqi announced on Tuesday, reported Mehr News Agency.

Araqi added that Iran is devising plans to boots gas exports. He said India, China and Turkey were the most favorable markets for Iranian gas, the news agency added.

He further said that the country has defined new routes to boost gas exports to Europe.

Iran is confident of achieving its target of higher gas exports as a number of prioritized gas projects will come on stream in the next Iranian calendar year 1393 (March 2014-March 2015), including five phases of the South Pars gas field development plan, Tehran Times newspaper said.

The central Asian nation is looking to boost share of natural gas in its export basket. The country expects to achieve exports of about 100 million cubic meters by signing deals with Turkey and Iran.
