Iran Plans Gas Pipeline to Iraq, Syria, EU

Iran plans to build diverging pipelines for exporting gas to Syria, Iraq and European countries, Press TV reported.

Pipeline construction is likely to further strengthen Iran’s gas infrastructure.

Iraq requires roughly between 10 and 15 million cubic meters of Iran's gas while Syria needs about 15 to 20 million cubic meters and Lebanon wants five to seven million cubic meters until 2020.

Total gas exports during the current Iranian calendar year which ends on March 21 has been nearly 7.6 billion cubic meters.

Iran, which holds world's second largest natural gas reserves, is in the process of boosting its gas production by increasing foreign and domestic investments, especially in its South Pars gas field.
