Iran, Oman Hold Fresh Gas Talks

Iran and Oman held fresh round of talks regarding Iranian gas supply to Sohar port, reported Mehr News Agency Wednesday.

In June, Iranian officials announced Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) will build the Iran-Oman gas pipeline.

The 400-kilometer pipeline, stretching from Mubarak Mountain to Sohar Port, is defined in two onshore and offshore sections. The onshore part of the project will run for about 200 km from Rudan region to Kuh Mobarak [both in Iran], while the undersea part, will be another 200 km from Kuh Mobarak to Oman’s Sohar port.

Studies on both onshore and offshore sections of the pipeline will be conducted simultaneously to avoid any disruption in the implementation of the project.

Iran and Oman in 2013 signed a deal under which Tehran will export 28 mcm/d of gas to its neighbour through a subsea pipeline for 15 years.
