Iran, Iraq to Ink Gas Supply Deal by March 20

Tehran and Baghdad will most likely sign a deal pertaining to export of Iran's gas supplies to Iraq before the end of the current Persian calendar which end on March 20.

Fras News Agency said in a report that Iranian and Iraqi energy officials are in the final stages of their talks regarding the gas supply deal.

As per the deal, Iran will export 25mln cubic meters of gas to the neighbouring country per day via a 270-kilometer gas pipeline, which will transport Iran's gas to Iraq's al-Mansoureh power plant and Baghdad via Ilam border in Western Iran.

Last month, Iranian officals announced that work has started on the pipeline and added that upon completion of the pipeline Iraq's neighboring countries, including Jordan and Lebanon, will likely supply their gas needs through the pipeline as well.
