Invictus completes CB23 seismic acquisition programme in Zimbabwe

Sydney-listed Invictus Energy on August 7 announced the successful conclusion of its CB23 2D seismic acquisition programme at the Cabora Bassa project located in Zimbabwe. The company holds an 80% ownership stake in the project.

A total of 425 km of 2D seismic data were acquired which will provide enhanced coverage of prospects and leads identified in the eastern areas of Invictus’ Cabora Bassa basin acreage, the company said.

“Following the full processing and interpretation of the new data we are aiming to mature those leads and add to our material prospect portfolio as candidates for future exploration drilling,” managing director of Invictus Energy, Scott Macmillan, said.

One of the programme's key achievements is the confirmation of structural closure across multiple target intervals within various leads. This confirmation adds a new dimension to the understanding of potential exploration sites and strengthens the company's future prospects, according to Invictus.

The Cabora Bassa project comprises the Mzarabani and Msasa gas and condensate prospects and is operated and 80% owned by Invictus.

Invictus recently successfully raised A$12.7mn ($8.3mn) through an oversubscribed share placement plan. The proceeds from the placement will be utilised for various activities at the Cabora Bassa project, including preparations for the Mukuyu-2 appraisal well programme, phase two exploration campaign, and a 2D seismic and processing programme.
