Inpex Starts Feasibility Study on Gas Pipeline Extension

Japan’s Inpex has commenced a feasibility study on the extension of Shin Tokyo Line, its existing natural gas trunk pipeline.

Shin Tokyo Line is 213 km long from Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture to Fujioka City, Gunma Prefecture.

The feasibility study focuses on the potential pipeline route and pipeline specifications to extend Shin Tokyo Line southward for approximately 16km from its current end Fujioka City, to reach Honjo City, Saitama Prefecture.

Based on the results of the feasibility study, the final investment decision is expected this year, the company said.

The company said that it continues to work on reinforcing its gas supply chain aligned with its medium to long term vision and make efforts to supply natural gas, an environmentally friendly fuel, in a stable manner by maintaining safety management of the pipeline system.
