Inpex Completes Ichthys Pipeline

Inpex on November 9 said Ichthys LNG project’s 890 km gas export pipeline is ready to flow gas after offshore and onshore sections were welded together in Darwin.

With this, the pipeline is now ready to deliver gas from the offshore Ichthys field to the project’s onshore facilities at Bladin Point near Darwin for processing. The offshore section of the pipeline is 882 km long while the offshore section is 8 km.

“Today’s milestone means we are one step closer to physically connecting our onshore plant near Darwin to our offshore facilities which will be permanently moored in the Ichthys Field for the 40-year life of the project,” Louis Bon, Ichthys project managing director, said.

The Ichthys project is a joint venture comprising Inpex, Total, CPC Corporation, Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric Power, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas.
