Indonesia offers eight oil, gas blocks

Indonesia is offering eight new oil and gas blocks for auction, the country’s oil ministry said on November 29.

The blocks on offer are West Palmera and Bertak Pijar Puyuh on Sumatra island, the Paus offshore field in Natuna, the North Ketapang and Agung I blocks in North Java, the Karaeng and Agung II blocks in South Sulawesi, and the Maratua block in East Kalimantan.

The Bertak Pijar Puyuh, North Ketapang, Agung I and Agung II blocks will be offered via a direct proposal tender, while the rest will be offered in a regular tender, the ministry said.

For the blocks offered under direct proposal, tender bid documents can be accessed from November 29 to January 11. Documents can be submitted from January 11 to January 12, 2022. For block offered under regular tender, bid documents can be accessed from November 29, 2021 to March 24, 2022. Documents can be submitted from March 24 to March 25.

The direct proposal mechanism is based on companies proposing new areas for exploration and conducting joint studies to evaluate the potential of those areas. The regular tender mechanism is based on a competitive tender process.
