India's LNG Imports in December Jump 23%

India’s LNG imports increased for the 10th month in a row in December and were 2.82bn m3 (about 2mn metric tons), up almost 23% yr/yr, according to latest data published by Indian oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell.

In the nine months to December 31, cumulative imports were 23.58bn m³, up 6.8% yr/yr. If the trend continues, India’s imports during the financial year than ends on March 31, 2020, will touch a new record. In the previous financial year, the country imported a record 27bn m³ of LNG.
