India's LNG imports down 1% in July

India's LNG imports for the month of July totaled 2.23bn m(approximately 1.6mn tonnes), marking a slight decline of 1.1% compared with the same period last year, according to the provisional data published by the country's oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) on August 21. Notably, the imports remained stable on a month/month basis.

For the first four months of the current financial year that began on April 1 (FY2024), cumulative LNG imports were 9.98bn m3, up 4.7% when compared with the corresponding period in the previous year.

In the fiscal year which concluded on March 31 (FY2023), India's LNG imports amounted to 26.65bn m3, reflecting a decline of 14.1% in comparison to the preceding year.
