India's January LNG Imports Drop

India’s LNG imports in January declined after witnessing a jump in the previous month.

The south Asian nation imported LNG equivalent to 2.13bn mof pipeline gas (about 1.7mn metric tons LNG) last month, down 11.6% year-on-year, according to data published February 21 by the Indian oil ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC). India imported LNG equivalent to 2.12bn m3 in December, up 4.7% year-on-year. 

During the first ten months of the present financial year that began April 1, cumulative imports were 22.84bn m3, up 5.6% on year. India's LNG imports last financial year were the highest ever at 26.4bn m³, up 7% from the year before, according to PPAC data.
