India's HPCL, Shapoorji Pallonji to Set Up LNG Terminal

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and Mumbai-based infrastructure major Shapoorji Pallonji will next week sign a joint venture pact to set up LNG terminal on the coast of Gujarat, India.

The terminal is expected to come up at Chhara in Gujarat's Junagadh district through a 50:50 joint venture, Press Trust of India reported.

SP Ports is already developing a greenfield, all weather, direct berthing port in Junagadh district. HPCL and SP Ports are carrying out a detailed feasibility study for establishing technical and commercial viability of setting up a LNG import and regasification terminal of 5 million tonnes per annum capacity at the proposed Port, Press Trust of India said.

The project will most likely be complete in three and half years.

Gujarat already has two functional ports at Dahej and Hazira. A third one is coming up at Mundra. The Chhara terminal would be the fourth in the state.
