India's August LNG Imports Up 10%

India’s LNG imports in August increased year-on-year for the fifth month in a row, according to data published August 21 by Indian oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC).

Last month India imported LNG equivalent to 2.74bn m³ of pipeline gas (about 2mn metric tons), up 10.3% compared with the same month of the previous year. During the first five months of this financial year, cumulative imports were 13.49bn m³, up 8.1% year-on-year. India’s financial year runs from April to March.

During the last financial year, India imported 27bn m³ of LNG, up 2.6% compared with the year before. This was the highest ever volume in one fiscal year.
