India's April LNG Imports Rise 10%

India’s LNG imports in April increased year-on-year after three months of decline, according to data published May 20 by Indian oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC).

The south Asian nation imported LNG equivalent to 2.5bn mof pipeline gas (about 1.85mn metric tons of LNG) last month, up 9.75% year-on-year. India had imported LNG equivalent to 2.2bn m3 of pipeline gas in March, according to PPAC data. 

During the 12-months to March (India’s fiscal year runs from April to March), cumulative imports were 27bn m3, up 2.6% compared with the previous year. This was the highest ever imports during a fiscal year.
