Indian LNG imports jump 18% in October

India's LNG imports in October totalled 2.34bn m(approximately 1.7mn tonnes), marking an increase of 18.2% compared with the same period last year, according to the provisional data published by the country's oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) on November 23. The imports were up 2.6% on a month/month basis.

For the first seven months of the current financial year that began on April 1 (FY2024), cumulative LNG imports were 17.75bn m3, up 13.4% compared with the corresponding period in the previous year.

In the fiscal year which concluded on March 31 (FY2023), India's LNG imports amounted to 26.65bn m3, reflecting a decline of 14.1% in comparison to the preceding year.
