Indian firm commissions UK's first mini-LNG terminal

Indian multinational INOXCVA announced on May 31 it had commissioned the UK's first-ever multi-functional mini-LNG terminal in Kyleakin, Scotland, for a fish farming company.

INOXCVA, a manufacturer of cryogenic technology and equipment, commissioned the plant for Norwegian seafood group MOWI.

"The innovative design and modularised concept of this terminal enabled INOXCVA to implement the project with minimum site activity and time," the Indian company said, adding the project could serve as a template for future mini-LNG terminals in the UK.

INOXCVA manufactured and supplied the terminal on a turnkey supply basis, it said, with all major critical equipment designed and put together in India. The terminal consists of two 1,000-m3 vacuum insulated storage tanks and can receive LNG from small-scale vessels, semi-trailers and IMO containers. It will supply gas to MOWI's fish feed factory.
