Hoegh Appoints New Ops Chief

Norway-based shipowner Hoegh LNG announced a new organisational structure with effect from January 15. Its January 6 announcement includes the creation of a new Operations Division, to be headed by a chief operating officer with responsibility for the technical and commercial management of all Hoegh LNG assets in operation. Vegard Hellekleiv, previously its chief technical officer, has been nominated to the position of the new COO post. Oivin Iversen, head of Hoegh's floating liquefaction plans until shelved 11 months ago, will replace Hellekleiv as CTO.

Other senior managers remain unchanged, including its CEO Sveinung Stohle and finance chief Steffen Foreid.

Stohle said: "We have been very successful in growing our floating storage regasification unit business, with currently six FSRUs and two LNG carriers in operation, and we have another three FSRU projects coming on stream the next 18 months: in Ghana, Pakistan and Chile. Hoegh LNG is the leading company in the FSRU segment, and we have a clear objective to further strengthen our position in this market."

The transfer of a 51% ownership interest in FSRU Hoegh Grace from Hoegh LNG to separately-listed Hoegh LNG Partners was completed January 4.
